944/968 Coilover Configuration Guide
This guide covers spring pairings and configuration choices for the LPM 944/968 coilover system. For a discussion of comfort, response and street-versus-track priorities, start with Choosing Your Porsche Coilover Setup.
944/944 Turbo/968: recommended spring pairings
Choose the row that best describes your driving, then use the rear rate for your intended torsion-bar arrangement. Front and rear are a pairing—not two unrelated decisions.
| Your driving | Front | Rear: torsion bars removed | Rear: torsion bars retained |
|---|---|---|---|
| Comfortable street | 6K | 10K | 7K |
| Spirited street / occasional track | 7K | 12K | 8K |
| Track-focused | 8K | 13K | Ask us about your setup |
The track-focused 8K front / 13K rear recommendation is for cars without rear torsion bars. These pairings apply to the LPM 944/968 system; they are not spring-rate recommendations for a 996, 997, 987 or 981.
Keeping the rear torsion bars?
Use the “torsion bars retained” rear rate when selecting one of the street pairings. If you plan to remove the bars, use the corresponding “torsion bars removed” rate. Tell us which arrangement you have now and which you intend to run before ordering.
Early or Late?
EARLY: all 924 and 924S models, regardless of year, plus 1982–1986 944 models; 57 mm front strut mounting-hole spacing.
LATE: 1987–1995 944/968 models, including all 968 models; 63 mm front strut mounting-hole spacing. Every 924S belongs in EARLY, even when its model year sounds “late.”
