Description

Our variation of the classic dimpled ball has been re-imagined with the ergonomic offset of the Porsche 997 design and larger dimples. Lower section is micro-dimpled for non-slip contact.

This heavyweight shift knob is 100% solid 316L stainless steel created with 3D printing. As a result of this technique, surface variations imperfections may appear and can be seen in the pictures.

All of our shift knobs use Porsche's proprietary cam lock attachment system exactly like the original knob in the 1997-2013 manual transmission 911, Cayman, and Boxster models (997/987/996/987 chassis) which hold up the shift boot and ensure a factory-like attachment. Cam lock and interior of the knob are industrial nylon for vibration and heat isolation.

If you're not sure if your car has a manual transmission, check the area of the floor beneath the steering wheel. If you see 3 pedals, that's a manual transmission. If you see only 2 pedals, you cannot use this knob.

Installation

To remove the original shift knob, firmly grasp the top of the shift boot (the leather or fabric right below the knob).

You will feel a hard plastic collar within the material, that is what you are rotating. Twist this counter-clockwise (when viewed from the top), it should click and release, rotating about 90 degrees.

The knob will release and can be pulled straight up. There will be some resistance at first, but it will come off.

Installation of the new knob is the opposite procedure:

Push the new knob down all the way. It may require a bit of persuasion.

Twist the collar counter-clockwise relative to the knob, lift it up and engage the knob's cam lock. Then complete the counter-clockwise rotation until the boot clicks to the knob and the seam is centered.

Note that it is possible to incorrectly install the boot and have it be 90 degrees off-center. Simply disconnect and try again.
